In 1993 Caterpillar came to HMF looking for a custom material handling system for their hydraulic hose manufacturing operations. Caterpillar is a world leader in the fabrication of long-length high-pressure hydraulic hose. HMF was able to design, manufacture and install a fully automated mandrel storage and retrieval system for Caterpillar's 150-foot long high-pressure hydraulic hose manufacturing system. The entire automated system is more than 450-feet long and two stories high. Nearly fifteen years later HMF's system is still the leading edge in automated mandrel storage and retrieval.
