In 1994 Milsco Manufacturing, a Milwaukee based manufacturer of seating products came to HMF in an attempt to automate their seat assembly process. Through an intense eight-year automation effort the Milsco/HMF team was able to reduce direct labor content by more than 85%. The project ultimately involved the integration of foam-in-place technology, industrial robots, water-jet cutting, flame passivation, hot gluing and numerous custom pick-and-place devices. Today, Milsco is the industry leader in manufactured seating products for the agricultural, construction, industrial, forestry, recreational, and turf care markets.
